I must be really dense. I set up my criteria. Set it for free agents in my league and run the search. It gives me every player. What am I doing wrong?

Just guessing, without looking... the teams you created, are they actually associated with your league? Might be you have a league created but the teams not in the league. Take a look at that by going to the league tab and clicking add teams.
