What is a "sticky"?"The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step." Translation: Try to learn something new every day.

Tom,
if one of us regular joes creates a thread, can a moderator turn it into a sticky? I think I've seen that done on a number of other forums, including ones that use the same forum software as this."Well, in all my years I ain't never heard, seen nor smelled an issue that was so dangerous it couldn't be talked about. Hell yeah! I'm for debating anything. Rhode Island says yea!"

Yes, I do the same thing: I ask the moderator to change a thread into a sticky.
That said, "stickies" are not meant for general use. The purpose of a sticky is to keep frequently-visited threads at the top (like FAQs), not to highlight a interesting conversation.
