  • No New Baseball Content

Is it true that there has been no new baseball content since October 17? I want to make sure there is nothing wrong with my subscription. I can’t remember in prior years if you guys went 3+ weeks without providing any content. I know the Forecaster comes out the day before Thanksgiving so that’s coming up. Thank you.

Not unusual. Everybody's at First Pitch AZ.

Yup, just been quiet here as we focus on the Forecaster and First Pitch Arizona. We should be able to get an article or two posted before Thanksgiving, then we'll have the Forecaster PDF, the org reports starting up in early December, and then we'll be off to the races.

I'd meant to ask this same question. In my many years of subscribing, I don't remember a stretch this long with such a static home page article-wise (which, yes, could just as easily be an indictment of my memory).

I know that the books and live events need to command the bulk of the attention at this point, but having front-page Daily Matchups and Callups articles isn't the best look.

Having been in the public-sided communication business all of my professional life and understanding both sides, I would say that the optimal look, even in this scenario, is one fresh article a week - total.

so basically of six core writers, they each contribute one article in that six-week span.

there are plenty of other subscribers who won't post here that would agree that my concept is more appealing.

            but what do I know?

The Forecaster and FPAZ are both major undertakings that consume basically the entire staff for these two months. But our intent is still to have weekly content in October/November. We've fallen short of that this year. We'll get it going again as soon as we can.

I don't believe my site renewal/forecaster renewal has gone through yet. Should it have gone through by now?

                  fair enough.

I used to have what I call "evergreens" handy in this scenario. HQ has some creative writers, and they literally at any time of the year could pen an essay musing about what changes they might like to see in traditional Rotisserie rules, to give just one example. when the time crunch arrives, time to release the evergreens.

I ran a popular blog more than a decade ago, and I would deliberately pace the posts to run 7 days a week, rather than barrage a reader with 3 or 4 posts on a Thursday and then none for 3 days. Not practical in the middle of a fantasy baseball season, but different story in the offseason. hence my weekly posting suggestion above.

My feedback in that era clarified what's being discussed here - consistent posting is very popular.

Most have been processed, but we're still working through the final chunk of them. Should be fully processed in next week or so.

Yes, as mentioned earlier, we had every intention of continuing weekly content through October/November. It just didn't happen over the last couple of weeks, despite those intentions.

                        oh, of course (sh)it happens.

my real point was having some material 'in the can' months earlier. then when 'it' hits the fan, you still have material regardless. I have been in that boat of believing I could always have something ready each week, but life gets in the way (whether individual or a team). another option would have been to have had very popular whimsical articles from recent years at the ready - kind of like a "TV repeat," but as always not everyone has seen the episode - and those who have are liable to be content to smile all over again...
