  • Decimals in the CDG?

I may be slow on the uptake, and I might have missed an explanation for this. But when I download the CSV files for the CDG, the counting stats for batters are all showing with decimal places. Online, they are showing as whole numbers. Moreover, the decimals appear to be truncated rather than rounded. For example, here's Ohtani, on-screen and in the CSV:

    On screen: AB 524, R 102, HR 41, RBI 101, SB 35, CS 4
    CSV: AB 524.5714, R 102.9714, HR 41.7714, RBI 101.0286, SB 35.9429, CS 4.8571

Oddly enough, decimal stats look like they are rounded rather than truncated -- BA .2929 in the CSV rounds to .293, OBP .3928 rounds to .393, ADP 1.38 rounds to 1.4.

For pitchers, the counting stats display as whole numbers.

Obviously, it's not that much of a difference. But I am curious. What's the rationale for doing it this way? And are you also truncating the pitchers' counting stats?

It's a display issue. I'll just convert the CSVs to whole numbers this week. Everything in the database is stored as decimals... park factor conversions, MLEs, etc., can result in those partial numbers. We just hide them from you... most of the time.
