Workaround for how using # in forums turns into a word

For years now, if you type, say, #4 into a text, it turns into a Forum link that is nothing. It is a problem with "#" and how that is translated. Can this be fixed? If not, what is the workaround?

Have noticed this, have not figured out how to fix it.

That is a vBulletin feature, not an HQ feature, so I think we have to live with it.

My workaround is to type "No. 4" instead. I don't always remember to do this, though.

Or you can type # 4.
