  • Arrieta BPV

In your March 3 article on Sleeper Starters, Jake Arrieta's 2012 BPV is listed as 89. Playerlink lists his 2012 BPV as 102. Forecaster lists his 2012 BPV as 64. Which is it and why are these numbers different. There were other discrepancies as well, including won-loss. thanks.

The data in that piece was from starts only (relief appearances excluded). Arrieta had 13 IP in relief with BAL in 2012 that were included in his Playerlink BPV but excluded in that article. His BPV in the Forecaster was impacted by the MLE of the 56 IP he had at Triple-A in 2012.

Forecaster includes minor-league equivalents, the site doesn't. Not sure about the discrepancy in the column vs the rest of the site, will check with Stephen.

Thanks Ray. That explains everything. All the numbers add up for me now. I'll now check my to see if my toaster is plugged in.
