suggestion for playerlink

The bottom guys on my team are always getting platooned by splits. I look for guys that have wide differences between splits for the last 3 spots on my batting roster. (so I will have 6 guys that platoon in based on who has the best numbers for the game) This only works with guys with very very distinct numbers. e.g. fullmer and edmonds who do great against righties and ok vs. right or hunder who does much better away/outside.

etc.

I was wondering if you could do splits on BPIs some time? e.g. a running split on guys worth $23 and less.
so we can see BPI's for lft/right home/away outside/inside night/day....

seems like it is a lot of work, but if, on the off chance it isn't, can you put it in.

if this is too much... maybe an article on something like this.

In general, the sample sizes for some of this information are not significant enough to be statistically valid (e.g. night/day). Some of these splits are not projectable (e.g. home/away trends tend to vary every year for most players) There are some that might provide insight (LH/RH, etc.) but we do not have access to that data on a regular basis, though we do include it in the Baseball Forecaster.

It would be great if you could have a link to or show the game log for that player, a la bigleaguers.com

I'm less interested in more content that I can get elsewhere (ESPN has all the splits you can dream up available) than I am in more HQ-only content.

Reaction to Playerlink proposal on Rickey Henderson board

I posted this in reply to a proposal on the Rickey Henderson board for more more news and info in Playerlink, but realized it might get lost there.

So here it is again:

HQ doesn't run a news service, nor should we expect them to... We've got RotoWire, RotoWorld, Rototimes, and the Sporting News for that, which is plenty.

I too would like to see more in Playerlink, which is why I suggested Minor League Callups and Dr. HQ and other content being integrated into it.

What would be a dream... Well, this is probably wishful thinking... but what would be a dream is to have something like an HQ writers-only message board on each page. Anytime an HQ writer expresses an opinion on a player on the user boards, or anytime he just feels like it, he could post it also on the player's PlayerLink page. We might even see dialogues develop as HQ writers disagree that could be illuminating.

Well, I know that idea is probably unfeasible, but what the heck, I'm throwing it out there.
