  • The new REL grades

first off, I like the change. Another addition to the already vast set of tools on this site.

my question is in regards to the health risk grade. Is this strictly an objective grade based on DL days with no regard to the type of injury? so would a pitcher who missed time with a freak injury like Chris Young batted ball in face be given the same grade as a pitcher who missed equal time but with rotator cuff tendinitis ? In terms of how those injuries affect the grade I mean. Thanks.

Yes, it's based only on DL days, no adjustment for type of injury.

Also, Ron's article on reliability grades will be up this Friday, so that should answer most of our other questions about them.
"America is an effort. We are a nation born of risk and adversity--of fearful seas to cross just to get here in the first place, of land to clear, floods, epidemic disease, of slave chains and city slums and terrible winters on the high plains." -- David McCullough
