  • Which category for expansion from 4x4 to 5x5

Just wondering about a single best category to use in expanding from NL 4x4 to NL 5x5, expecially for a mix of owners ranging from 'involved' to 'spend a little time prior to the auction'. Or, would it be better to combine 2 categories and keep the 4x4 format (e.g saves+holds).

    What are your current categories?

We added the standard Ks and Rs when we finally switched in 2003.

Ks are excellent, as they smoke out "turtle" owners who get some vulture Ws early and then try to hide in their shells with a big load of RPs the rest of the way.

Rs do the same to a lesser extent with hitting; the more aggressive owners (chasing playing time) do a little better, generally.

Ron has an experimental league that he wrote about several weeks ago. You may want to take a look at those articles to either add or overhaul your categories if you want to think outside the box. But it sounds like from your original post that you may not want to reinvent the wheel for your owners who "spend a little time before the auction". Because of that, I would agree with Howie. Once you go to 5x5, you'll never know how you ever existed in a 4x4 format.
