When you look at someone's stats in the player database, they have a R$ for actual to date as well as projected. What exactly do these numbers mean in relation to each other?

For example, Gary Sheffield has the following numbers on his database page:

Does the R$ of 31 mean he has earned $31 so far this year? Or does it mean that if he were to continue on this pace for an entire year he would be worth $31?

For the projected balance of $22, does that mean he projects to earn $22 more, or that by the end of the year his value will be $22?

If he projects for $22 more, and has already earned $31, does this mean he will have earned $53 in total value for the year? This doesn't seem possible when compared to someone like Ichiro:

He has a R$ actual of $39, and a projected R$ of $35. I can't imagine that he will end up being worth $74.

Does the R$ of 31 mean he has earned $31 so far this year? For the projected balance of $22, does that mean he projects to earn $22 more?

Yes and kind of. As to the second question, his pR$ is what we expect him to earn from today until the end of the year.

So for, say, Jose Reyes, he has an Actual R$ of $49 and a projected R$ of $41. If he earns $41 the rest of the way, his total value for year would be $90. Assuming the projection is perfectly accurate, is he really going to be worth $90 this year?

No. He has an actual of $49 right now. We project the stats he produces between now and the end of the year will be worth $41. These are separate calculations and will not be added together. If he produces what we project from here on out, his value for the year will be somewhere around $45.

R$ is a value as if the year-to-date statistics were the only stats available. Taking the entire league pool of year-to-date stats and a full league budget of $260, the player has been worth his R$. Similarly projected R$ takes the entire league pool of projected stats and a full league budget of $260.
