  • I am clueless - Splits?

I am fairly new to serious fantasy baseball and am still learning all the BPI's and strategies. Still haven't figured out how to calculate the hitting/pitching split in my league. I guess the split is based upon how much is typically spent in my league for a hitter versus a pitcher of the same caliber? I am in a 4x4, mixed keeper league with 14 teams - how do I go about this?

    Thanks,
    Joe

forgot to mention the salary cap going into the draft is $260 but goes up to $300 after the draft

Look at last year's post-draft rosters for your league.

Add up all the offensive and pitching salaries separately - that'll give you an estimate of the split spent between offense and pitching in your league.

(Beware if there are any teams in your league that had extreme splits last year - you might want to determine if that's a bias they'll continue this year before taking last year's splits as "gospel" for your '04 planning.)
