  • Blog about my team

    Hi BHQ Folks

I'm in an NL only roto keeper league.

I'm trying the Doug Dennis model this year for the first time.

It might be interesting to have a running commentary/update from me week-to-week about how my team is doing, decisions I'm making, etc. What do you think? I won't be offended if you say it would not be popular. It's just such a different type of strategy...

If you think it would be a good idea, where on the forum should it live?
NL Only, Roto, 10 team, keeper, 4 x 4, OBP, one catcher
    Keep 10 players
    Keeper salary +$2 a year
    Contracts 3 years max
Hitting: HR, OBP, Runs - HR, Steals
    Pitching: ERA, Wins, Saves, K-BB

Either Roster Management or Rules and Strategy: Rotisserie seem like suitable choices.

I'm unlikely to keep reading the thread, but other NL-only players might. I do read all of the annual "How Do I Do This Year?" thread about what went right and wrong for our forum posters.

I tend to only do monthly updates of my "Anatomy" auction review (which I don't even do every year) if the team is very good or very bad. so I skipped the middle months last year.

this year's team has been rather extreme, so it's more likely I do a May 1 review. but if I'm 5th on June 1, that's not likely grounds for an update (unless maybe my 4 best players all go on longterm IL or something; in which case probably nothing to add until maybe a year-ender in October).
NL 11-team 5x5 auction keeper. no bench, limited 'free' moves #oldschool
our owners have a combined 340 or so years of experience in this 42-year-old league

Michael... I don't remember seeing the "How'd you do?" thread in 2024. Was there one?

There might not have been one last year. Seems like there usually is one. Often there are two threads: one for first place finishers and one for everyone else.

It can be both instructive plus it satisfies my curiosity about some of the frequent posters that one has helped (or tried to!) during the year.

FWIW, I don't recall seeing one in either 2023 or 2024... I do enjoy reading them (and posting in them) as well. In fact, I have the threads bookmarked from 2015 on (2015 was my first year here).

I did some poking around, and here are the two closest things to the old "how did you do" threads (I started both of these) from 2023 and 2024

I'll try to remember to start some when the 2025 season ends, Timmeh. I hope you're doing well.
