  • Need Help Formatting Depth Charts in Excel

Does anyone have simple step-by-step instructions on formatting the depth charts in Excel after downloading each league file? The problem is I want to print the depth charts and I can't seem to create a one-page depth chart for each league that is easy to read (similar to the depth charts prior to the website revamp). Thank you.

You can make it one page very easily. On the print dialog in Excel, the bottom option on that list is "fit sheet on one page". That will jam all of the text onto one page. That doesn't account for your "easy to read" requirement, though. I think everyone's personal tolerances are different there.

I would do these three things. You can find these tools on the print dialogue, or on the Page Layout tab. The underlined word in each line is the word on the relevant button on that tab.

      a) Set the print margins as narrowly as possible on each side (0.5" inch is what I use).
      b) Set the page orientation to landscape.
      c) Set the scale function (the thing that Ray is discussing) to "fit all columns on one page."

That generates a fairly readable sheet, but it consumes three pages. If I wanted it to fit on one page, I would hide a lot of rows. I don't need six rows of catchers, seven rows of 1B, 37 rows of RP, 16 rows of SP, etc. I'd pick about 2 or 3 rows at each hitting position and 5-8 rows at each pitching position. That would make it less than one page long.

Thanks Ray and John...I guess this is as good as it's going to get. Ray, I really miss the old feature where you could create a front and back page PDF list for each league with one click and no formatting. Is there any way that feature could please be added back to the site as an option?

We aren't quite where we want to be with printing in general... both in the CDG Grid output and these depth charts. We do intend to revisit those (at least the CDG), hopefully before we hit the peak of draft season in the next few weeks.

Hopefully you'll be able to address the depth charts in a timely manner as well. Thanks Ray.
