  • Custom Valuator

If you are in a league that requires GMs to draft more than 1 catcher each, you may notice that many of the catchers that should be selected have negative values. The Custom Valuator Notes explain the rationale for this; these notes are worth reading and studying.

However, that explanation conflicts a bit with the statement elsewhere in the Notes that "players below the $1 threshold really do not exist." A catcher worth negative dollars certainly does exist for you, and many fantasy GMs will need to pick him. Roughly twice as many positive-value 2B exist (depending on the league) as Cs, for example.

Just be aware that a $0 catcher per the Custom Valuator may be more valuable in your league than a $3 player at some other position. The reason is that the Custom Valuator does not reflect any particular position requirements. This problem is not particularly significant at any other position this year, unless your league has non-standard position requirements.
